Metal stains on pool liners and coatings can be removed with Stainfree, a citric acid solution. Stainfree is compatible with all sanitizing systems and is perfect for treating stains on all pool surfaces.

Important:
A pulp-based filter assist must be introduced to cartridge and sand filters before starting the metal stain removal or water discoloration process (step 4). DE filters must be charged appropriately. Reduce the chlorine concentration to 1ppm or less (A high chlorine level or adding oxidizing agents during the process will prevent Stainfree from working as designed). If the surface is stained, add 1 pound of Stainfree per 10,000 gallons as close to the stained area(s) as feasible overnight with the pump turned off.
Put the pool on recirculate and apply 1 pound of Stainfree per 10,000 gallons to the pool water evenly along the edge if the entire body of water is discoloured. Allow for one hour of circulation. After one hour, turn off the pump and leave it alone overnight. Brush the pool walls and floor thoroughly before re-starting the pump. Restart the pump and pour Metalfree evenly around the edge of the pool at a rate of 33.9 oz per 20,000 gallons. Vacuum the pool walls and floor thoroughly while the pump is still running.
After vacuuming, clean filters:
- Sand filter- backwash for at least 3 minutes and then rinse for 2 minutes
- Cartridge filter- clean filter and filter tank thoroughly
- DE filter- backwash and recharge with DE
Test and rebalance water. DO NOT SHOCK THE POOL FOR AT LEAST 1 WEEK.
